The Department of Civil, Construction-Architecture, and Environmental Engineering (DICEAA) of the University of L’Aquila is pleased to announce the publication of the call for applications for the 1st edition of the BiRO Award, in memory of the late Professor Bernardino Romano.
The theme of the award is “Soil protection and sustainable land planning.” It is divided into Section A, dedicated to recent graduates, and Section B, dedicated to new PhD holders who have defended their thesis between 01/01/2024 and 31/10/2025.
Section A is addressed to young graduates who have obtained a master’s degree in one of the following classes:
- LM-48 (Pianificazione territoriale, urbanistica e paesaggistico-ambientale);
- LM-35 (Ingegneria per l'Ambiente e il Territorio);
- LM-23 (Ingegneria Civile);
- LM-04 (Architettura e Ingegneria Edile-Architettura);
- LM-75 (Scienze e Tecnologie per l'Ambiente e il Territorio);
- LM-60 (Scienze della Natura)
The topics of the thesis must concern one of the subjects listed in Article 3, Letter A of the regulations.
Section B is addressed to young PhD holders who have defended a doctoral thesis relevant to one of the topics listed in Article 3, Letter B of the regulations.
The award for both Section A and Section B comprises a research grant of € 1000, sponsored by the Department of Civil, Construction-Architecture, and Environmental Engineering (DICEAA) of the University of L’Aquila.
To participate in the award, applicants must submit the required documentation indicated in the call by 15 December 2025.
The award ceremony will be held between April and May 2026
